Singing with technique or just "freely" without thinking about anything like that?
Hey guys!
I always sung alot in different bands and projects and I was always happy with my vocals in general.
The problem is that I really strongly am dependended on my "mood", so there are days when my voice feels really "smooth" and I have no problems at all and then there those days when I just have a smaller range and my voice feels sore without an obvious reason.
Some guy told me a few days ago that I should consider taking a few lessons to really build up a technique (I never really did so) but I'm not so sure... I always liked the concept of just singing "freely" from the heart without thinking about special techniques or stuff like that and so I built my own style and can add my true emotions.
And I'm not sure if taking lessons and learning technical stuff could make my singing-style too "normal", take away my emotional "involvement" in the singing or if it actually helps with my problem at all!
Any advices or stuff like that?

What I mean is, your performance should be based on the feel of the song, not how you feel. When you step up to the mic, it should just be you, the song and the performance. Leave everything else at teh door. This means controlling your attitude, which ain't easy and is kind of like something from Mr. Spock on Star Trek or something.
