Agile Valkyrie III (SG) $249 http://www.rondomusic.com/valkyriehc.html

Agile AL-2000 Series (LP) $199 http://www.rondomusic.com/al2000whitegoldhw.html

Xaviere Semi Hollow Strat $164 http://store.guitarfetish.com/xvredmedr18r1.html

Xaviere LP $219 http://store.guitarfetish.com/xvredmegfscr.html

I might spring for the Agile 3000 series but its a stretch money wise. Is it worth it to bump up to that next level?

I'm playing all varieties of rock, mainly aggressive rock and punk. I need a versatile guitar (don't we all). But the most important tone to me is a solid LP bridge pick up through a marshall kinda tone. I'm more into upgrading a little bit at a time then saving up, and even if i had a bit more money, this is still the price range im interested in.

I'm not open to eBay as of now, unless someone points out a killer deal.

I know we all hate these threads, but a simple i would pick this one answer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys,

Adam

I kinda like the Valkyrie III SG copy. It has a unique style to it kinda like my favourite 60s grater guitars, and looks like some nice wood on it as I'm a mahogany guy. BUT, the AL-2000 is Korean-made, which is a very good thing in my book. To date with my experience, you have a much better chance of getting a fairly playable guitar. Those would be my choices.

Mate, I'd have to play one. Being a copy of a famous body shape & rough approx of a PU config does not a good guitar make.
ADD to that its place of origin & the high likelyhood that some if not all of the electronics will need replacing etc etc PLAY THEM.

my personal preference would be one of the LP copys from rondo as a matter of fact it so happens that I just set up one of the Agile 2000 with the flamed maple top for a customer and I must say at that price point it was very impressive ...

thanks

thanks guys.

im going to shop out all the stores this weekend, but im not expecting to find much in this price range with these available features and awesome reputations.

so ill probably end up with an online purchase. in which case, it will almsot definitely be an agile. now i just have to play some sgs at the local store and decide if i want one to accent my lp copy i already own.

I think the Agile AL-2000 is the sure winner, definitely the best looking of the bunch in my opinion. I also really like the solid neck on a LP style over an SG style-it is so much more solid!

wow

thanks for pointing out that washburn. thats definitely another possibility now...

do you guys prefer made in china or korea? is there much of a difference?

i have checked musiciansfriend and music123 and zzounds, but that washburn didnt jump out at me. plus, its a pretty unanimous opinion all over the internet that for this price, rondo is the way to go.

btw, im trying to predict my paycheck, and it looks like the al3000 would be possible. so now im also asking if anyone has direct experience with a 2000 series and a 3000 series and how big of a difference there was. i know theres alot of upgrades on paper, but im more concerned with how they compare in the real world.

the difference between the 2000 and the2500 3000 models is the 2000 is multi ply laminate body the 2500 and 3000 models are solid mahogany bodys.
Korean builders techniques are a bit better than China however I don't think it makes much difference between Korean and China builders much anymore because a lot of the Korean manufacturers have moved their manufacturing plants to China or are using China plants under korean supervision and korean manufacturing techniques.
about the only thing I see lacking in chinese instruments is the pups and the pots.

careful... "Actual Weight is only 10 lbs"

we bass players complain when our instruments hit 10 lbs...

it's an awesome looking axe. I like the rondo strats with p90's, myself.

Sweet!

GOt up early today and ordered it. came to 400(!) CAD! friggin paypal uses their own currecy exchange rate, so instead it being like 40 bucks cheaper, it went up by 4 dollars! oh well, i figured 400 cad, for the 369 regular guitar and the 60 dollar pink plush hard case with lock plus shipping all the way from cali, i should be greatful.

still......

cant wait! CSB 3100 for 249, cant be beat. as long as this "scratch" isnt a ridiculous gash or looks like its structural damage, ill be ecstatic when it arrives.

will post review and pics when it gets here, hopefully sometime next week, but probably not til the week after that.

thanks for the input guys.
