Hi guys!
I've got tascam 424II as a recording device and i've been thinking that i should buy "more things" so that i can record what i realy hear.I'm not that experienced at this and i don't wanna rush-out buying stuff that wont help me in my case.I intend to record some rock shit,..heavy shit (vocal,guitar..drums...& so on), and i've been thinking about getting minimum preamp, compressor and equalizer (if any1 got any more suggestion..->go on).I was thinking about spending about 50-600$ on component...(if you could state some low budget and some "hi" things, please do)
So basically i'm looking for something that's gonna fill some space between my sm58 and ta424II and i would appreciate your feedback.
Thanks in advance!

I don't think you really need compressor or eq at the moment(you can always add them later on your DAW). IMO better idea would be investing to new preamp and/or new mic.

Well i'm kind of against digital stuff...i'm rather trying to get that warm analog sound.
So you say just preamp, got any recommendation?

The best thing to purchase would be a decent interface and software. Then you could store the Tascam in the closet between the polyester leisure suit and the acid washed jeans where it belongs.

I'm with him...

I had one of those... sometime in the eighties... never happy with it, but it was the only game in town for home recording... until I bought my first 8 bit sound card.

If you wanna stay analog ditch the cassette recorder and get an old R2R, at the very least a 3340. But 1/2-inch 8-track is gonna have better headroom and signal/noise ratio than any of those old Portastudios.
