Hey Buddy great songs

This tree and me – this is a great analogue for a relationship with some great imagery
Lake of mistakes; water with champagne; this tree and me would (wood) need to bleed really resonate.
I know the truth – drums down (particular cymbals) – vocals up – your voice is getting drowned out in this mix – possible a bit more compression on the bass could even out some of its ‘arrivals’ – not quite as catchy but I really like the arrangement
Fading Fast – love the lofi piano riff

Have you overdub on these or is that the bass player – if its you you’ve got a whole lower range you need to explore – if it isn’t then your voices really compliment well and you should do more

Rayc – I’m sure you’ve heard it before but you sound like Jimmy Little – if your from the Gong I know you’ll know who I’m talking about.

I love the ‘lament’ the strings are beautiful and the arrangement is wild sort of a fugue fell to it as it descends.

I have been on this forum for about 18ms and this is the first time I have posted up actual finished songs – pls feel free to take them apart – they are preliminary mixes/arrangements done on GarageBand for headphones – no monitors pls, I hope to start recording properly in the next few months on my Korg 32 track.

'Flowers sent to herself' and 'Unnoticeable you' are 2 of my favourites at the moment, but some of you might recognise Broken Universe and Autumn Leaves as lyrics I have posted in the past.

Would value any feedback on any of them (Black Dog and Smell of Betrayal -old songs wont make the cut)

haha hahahahahahha
hahahah
woo hoo
stop hamming it up, that song might be ok? i mean the guy could possibly sing, if he ever decides to work at it (needs typical goth reverb/delay), lyrics are hilarious! guitar is almost nonexistent

ahahahahahahahahahah

i must admit..
the riff itself is cool

btw, to refute and critique my songs:

why would anyone want to critique your stuff. you belittle other people's work and have no respect. and my song isn't finished yet nor even mixed properly. what's your excuse?

Hey,

I just found this site, but it looks like it can be incredibly helpful.

At any rate, we recorded our debut CD at "Unconventional Studios"
i.e. my basement.

So give a listen, the whole album was independently recorded and mixed there, so any advice would be great. I think that either the Chicken Song or Dr. Millionaire are the best recorded, but i would love to hear what others think or can critique me on.

By the way, it is like grindcore/death metal

hey, it wolnt let me post a URL here because I am a new member...

copy and paste that stuff if you want to hear some DIY deathmetal and grindcore.

I listened to Montana and liked the smooth easy feel the song had to it. I didn't see the song Crazy listed in your player though.
Dude you're right, I'm a moron. The official title is "Honey", I always call it crazy cause I say that in the chorus. Thanks for listening to Montana though.

I have had the pleasure of listening to your songs before. You've got a great catalog. Is this you singing? Great voice. Well arranged songs, it comes across that you put a lot of thought into the production. You do all this in Garage Band?

Cheers,

Cheers Chili

Like Stranded, very languid and solid arrangement – late night desert driving song! Reminds me a bit of Aussie singer/songwriter Paul Kelly

It is me singing. Yeah I really like GB for arranging it real quick, though I am sure Logic could be good as well – but I don’t really like to do the whole project in the box – but I am slowly coming round to the idea might need a new Mac though.

I download loads of free AU Synth and iDrum, plus the orchestra expansion pack – I think GB is an under-rated software as most people just use the loops, often badly

New Music.

We just released this new stuff with our rock trio.

The band was recorded with six mics.

Vocals with a 1976 Sennheiser MD 421.

On a TASCAM 424 mkii.

"No one likes hippies in Montana" great line, song sounds good.

Ok, I'll bite. I'm glad this thread is finally taking off.

DAS19, thanks for finally posting that link. I very much like your guitar tone. I know this sounds weird, but there's something cool about the way you pronounce each word _really_ clearly. I remember thinking the same thing about Trent Reznor way back when I first heard NIN. Kind of a nice departure from the usual voices you hear on the radio.

Undrgrnd studio -- I like what you've got posted. My favorite so far is "break of dawn." Very nice the way the electric guitars come in, after the acoustic part, and I am very much liking the dual-lead thing about 5 minutes in.

Comments coming for the other folks, too; it's just taking me a while to listen to all this. Already I can say, though, that most of you make much clearer-sounding recordings than I do.

I haven't gotten anything recorded in a few months, but I have some of my most recent stuff posted at

http://whatstudios.net/Dan/wttef.html

if you want to take a look. I think "vertical asymptotes" is the one I've gotten the most postive feedback on.

Very raw sounding. Its alright I think the songwriting needs some more work but I like the idea of a raw sounding rock trio.

Sure ... be glad to. I listened to a couple of 'em. They are very nicely recorded. The songs were boring and maddeningly repititious, sort of like an LSD trip that you want to be over but it just goes on and on. But they were well recorded.

haha, ok now i've taken it and given it... although i didn't see anything to listen to by this guy...

whatmysay i was a bit obnoxious, i just thought the vocals were a bit over the top.

nicole, i was obnoxious, but the lyrics were funny to me, and the delivery.
it's not a bad thing really
my tip about more guitar i think was valid.

ok i went to Oancient's profile and heard your stuff.
I'd be careful tossing the word "boring" around. the stuff i heard sounded like music that the weather channel rejected for it's background songs.
then there was the completely unoriginal blues blah blah.

the other tunes i critiqued did have potential, sorry for lack of tact if anyone got po'd.

Direct I can live with - lack of specificity is annoying

Cheers

here is one of my favorites songs i've recorded. It's only acoustic - but i think it came out better than the version with drums and electric guitar.

let me know what you feel.

Good solid Chorus, I get the cinema of her realization and the tears - reminds me a bit of UK Squeeze - not sure why? Maybe melody and lyrics not sure.

You need to get a pop-shield though or stop tapping the mic stand with your foot. Something is going bang!

Have you ever tried slowing it down with a fuller strum - I think there are melodic qualities in there that could be exploited more with a slower arrangement!

thanks Burt, for your response. I never really noticed the "popping" before. thanks for pointing that out.

yeah, I actually have been playing around with a slower pacing of the song, haven't quite developed it yet though.

Jordan.
