Seymour Duncan Dimebucker

Has anyone here tried the Seymour Duncan Dimebucker? Now that I have the right pickup for my SG, I want a ridiculously high output metal pickup for my Ibanez. It's a rather dark guitar, and the pickup seems kind of bright from the specs, I was wondering what anyones thoughts are on these pickups?

Dime only used the dimebucker in Damageplan (possibly because he had to)...

i agree.

i did play them.
they were a little too bright.
it was one of those dean's with the dimebucker on it
i ran it through a peavey 5150
it was so bright that i had to take the highs to about 7 oclock.

i'm a dimebucker user. n yeah!. it is bright n very high in treble. i really like it that way. if u wanna listen, here's a link to my myspace site for sound sample but it wasn't a decent recording.

The bill lawrence 500-XL is what the dimebucker was modeled after, and supposedly, it is what dimebag used in the studio to record all the pantera stuff. I have not used one, but I thought I would pass on that info.

To be honest I really don't care about immitating his sound, as I will be using tubes, and a bit of a softer sound. I'm really just interested in getting a high output pickup that isn't dark like an invader (due to the guitar its going in being dark). I'm also considering a Dimarzio Evolution Bridge pickup but I think that Seymour Duncans have a more raw sound to them, less of the wah sound built in to them, so I wanted to look at the Dimebucker first. I have heard good things about the Bill Lawrence pickup, but didn't know that the SD was modelled after it. Are there any noticable differences between them from those who have used them?

Well for one, they are only $56 US......


There is a waiting period though, as they're custom wound and handmade.......I haven't ordered mine yet, but I work with two people that have them, and I haven't heard a bad thing yet.........

In my opinion at least, if one pickup is based on another, but the original is cheaper, and at least as highly thought of, why not get it?


BTW, Dime used a 500L for at least Cowboys from Hell and Vulgar Display of Power before switching to the XL..........As far as I know, the Damageplan album is the only one he used the Dimebucker on
