Those ORTF clips sound really sweet. I was surprised at how good the mics I've never heard of sounded.....the Elation and the Nevaton. I was also surprised at the decent sound from the AKG C1000.

I couldn't hear alot of differnece thru my pc speakers though, some.

I thought the 901 were brighter and had a bit more shimmer thru my speakers anyway.

the 603 had more bass if thats what you liked, a bit more boom imo.

With ORTF Stereoaufnahmen the microphone distance to the guitar amounted to likewise 35-40 cm - the distance of the microphones to each other 19 cm. I played surely not always directly. During one period of perhaps 3 weeks, each microphone was tested, which I could get into the fingers. Here an excerpt of the models, which are in my opinion either really well or not at all badly and cheap. To stress I would like expressly that it does not concern commercially relevant tests here. All applications were aligned to my personal interests. Of course it is not possible to evaluate a set of microphones with the admission only one title. I have partly quite complex photographs made, which made valuable realizations for me possible with all microphones, however the presentation am not suitable. For example the MXL V67G is quite good with singing photographs á la Nat King Cole to use - the admission of a acoustic guitar sounds rather fade. Or the Oktava MK-219 is unbeatable for Vintage Saxophonsounds or Dobrotunes - the acoustic guitar is not its profession. Exzellente overall qualities supply Neumann TLM103 and Neumann KM184. Oktava MK-012, Nevaton MC-416 and Elation KM-201 are likewise protruding. The Oktavas a large series dispersion is after-said - my two copies became in the work gematched (with minutes and behave exemplary). Very much disappointing I also did not feel the microphones of AKG and from RODE - not badly, but under any circumstances well. MXL 990 is not bad in view of the very low price, which can keep up MXL 603S with the Oktava MK-012 not completely, is however nevertheless recommendable.
