Sennheiser e835s or SM-58, and inexpensive vocal processor to recommend

I need to purchase a vocal mic for live performances. I do not care for the bassy sound of an SM-58, and am leaning to the Sennheiser e835. As I live in a rural location, it will be mail ordered. Which is best? Anything better in the $100* range?

Also, I currently have a cheapie mic with a 1/4" plug that I run thru a digital delay stomp box for effects.

Would there be any similar effects boxes/devices I could use with the Sennheiser XLR plug that's not overly expensive.**

** I do have good acoustic guitar mics, Shure SM-94, and I have the ability to buy whatever I want, but at 56 years old with tons of stuff I once wanted/bought, I'm not eager to spend tons of $$ on something that may gather dust someday. Just something better than the 1/4" cheapie mic and a stomp box would do just fine.

Any suggestions matching these parameters welcome.

Hi - I have a 58 and a Senn 935 (not 835). The SM58 is the "just in case" mic and the Senn is the main mic I use live. As I have a deep enough voice already I find the Sennheiser better - clearer... less bassy...

Don't know how you can compare the 835 vs 935, but you sound like you dislike the 58 for the same reasons I do, so I'd suggest the 835 may suit you better.

I think you'll find you can use an XLR to 1/4" cable with dynamic mics, Sennheiser or Shure, depending upon what you're plugging it into. In terms of gadgets, I have a Boss RC50 looper - not cheap and maybe not what you're looking for, but the only one I know of that has XLR inputs...

thank you.

thank you for your advice and time, I will look up the box you note. r

i have an 835...dont have any other dynamic to compare it too but i even prefer it to my condensers...its a great mic imho and can be had as low as $60 new if you look about

935 is a great live vocal microphone Armistice!
I have four of them in a package that I use with the vocalist of a big band (27 piece) and they work great at getting them all (2 Males and 2 females) up and over the top of the horn and rhythm sections.
