Hi,
I'm using sonar 2 xl in a live midi band setup. I have a Korg X3R racked synth and a BOSS GX-700 guitar processor that I use in the live setup. I want to be able to change patches with cakewalk so that I can switch sounds automatically during a song. I can't seem to get this to work so I thought I'd ask for help. Also how can I switch the combiniation preset in the KORG X3R. There is probably a generic answer on how to do this...Thanks a lot.

...use the sysex to change the patch of GX-700. I don't have one, but you may find this thread has similiar topic. Hope you'll get the idea...

As for the X3R, go Global menu.

set the MIDI Filter --> Prog to ENA : You'll change the Comb number by sending patch change in SONAR.

set the MIDI Filter --> Prog to PROG : You'll change the programs number within Comb by sending patch change in SONAR.

To call Comb Bank A, select bank number 0 in SONAR.
To call Comb Bank B, select bank number 1 in SONAR.
etc...

Thanks for the reply, I'm gonna try it out and I'll post again when I see how I do. This forum rocks!

A different sollution:

And you can use the POD Studioware panel to do the changes and just save the MIDI-messages. I do that with my V-Amp 2 (but without the studioware). :)

Just look at the MIDI-implementation chart in the PODs manual.

thanks folks. It all worked out great. Quite simple really. All I ended up doing was inserting a patch change in sonar and viola, the patch changed (go figure). Nice to be able to automate things. I recently bought an American DJ midi pak so along with the sequenced bass and drums I automate guitar fx changes and the entire light show. fun stuff.
thanks again.
scott.
