I have roadrunner which is capped at 45kB/s upload (they do that to discourage running file servers) - it'd take me 19 hours to upload, and thats IF I'm not on my connection for anything else all day. fuck that, they get a dvd in the mail....

When my son was 5 or 6, he said to me "Dad, was the world in black and white when you were young ?".

That's nothing - when I was young, I asked my mother if she was alive when Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament! :D

wow time to look at another carrier a lot of these so called broadband connection are only broadband for DL and your left in the stone age for upload speeds
For $45 a month I'm getting about 300 times the upload bandwidth that Roadrunner is capping you out on. It must be sheer hell even trying to post an mp3 with their DSL service

For $45 a month I'm getting about 500 times the upload bandwidth that Roadrunner is capping you out on. It must be sheer hell even trying to post an mp3 with their DSL service

right? :o

Seriously

Maybe it's a California thing

I backup extra copies of all my backup projects to cloud storage, I couldn't even function if it took me 3 days instead of about an hour to back up an average EPs 8-9 GB worth of raw tracks and data to the online servers

Well, I can certainly say that upload bandwidth in Illinois (or in Texas where I grew up) can't be had for that cheap, or if it can, I haven't found the service...

I went to college in southern California, but I was on the really fast campus network and never purchased my own Internet access. So I didn't know they had bandwidth as cheap as $45 a month for 8-9 GB an hour.

Upload away! ;)

I've been trading files with a band in Budapest, Hungary (I live in Louisiana). We use dropbox.com. It's tooooo easy.

:laughings::laughings::laughings:

I said the same to my parents :D

They just laughed... Was it??

:D
In Birmingham (where I was born) it's still black and white !

my 19 year old stepdaughter is baffled that we didn't have the internet when i was her age. :laughings:
If they'd had the internet when I was a teenager in the 70s, I'd still be in that room now ! :D

Back in the mid 80s when I started working with kids, one day these kids came up to me and said "You never told us you were an athlete" and I said "eh ?". They showed me this picture in a book of a hurdler in action at the 1968 olympics and I went cold. He was a dead ringer for me, in fact, he looked more like me than I did ! So I put out this story that I used to be a famous athlete and for years they believed me (unlike bad liars, I always remembered my tales). I never used to hide my age but it never occurred to any of them that I would only have been 5 that year. They just dug having a 'celeb' in their midst, even though nobody was in the slightest bit interested in hurdles !
