I see deaf people
thought Id try to replicate late 80's bland techno in between recording some songs..I think I nailed most of it, apart from using a vocoder which never appeared in any techno of that era...the tracks called 1989 for an obvious reason

this is pretty trippy. i really like the atmosphere of the whole thing. it has really good dimension to it. I really like all the sounds you have going on here. the synths are great. nice job with the mix!

cheers K...to be honest its about 100 times easier to mix this stuff than guitars etc..compression and limiters dont really come into it...just mix it to the levels you want then maximise the volume..
 
This doesn't come across as self indulgent - actually might be a bit more accessible than some of your other tunes.

The sound is great. Clear and full with nice panning and stuff. I don't know jack about synths, but I found the abundance of percussive synths sounds a bit overwhelming and would have like more or louder droning sorts of sounds to keep it glued together. You have some in there, they just seemed faint.

Sounds good as is though and remember, I know nothing about these sort of arrangements. :)

I honestly thought it would just get slated, I think anyone who knows the genre and has the right sounds can knock these up fairly quickly..this took a day to write/record and would have been quicker if I used my outboard synth with midi rather than audio...I just like the sounds of techno from 89/90 before the "rave" scene watered it down..I didnt think anyone else did

Ill have another listen to the mix...I did notice that the pads were too quiet, I never at first listen
 
Sounds great kcearl....true to life 909 snare is pretty much how i remember it. Nice blend of arps and melodies. No problems with the mix for me.

I thought the snare could be a little louder. Yeah, didn't techno start to die when the "artistes" started calling themselves DJ this and DJ that.......??:D

Thanks JP...I put the vocoder through an amp to make it sound less like a plug in...kinda worked i think
 
Sounds good. You've got some cools sounds and beats, and there's enough variety to keep it from getting tedious.
 
This is the best thing I've heard from you yet. Sometimes the simplest, quickiest, and easiest stuff is the best.
