SE 2000 body for DIY project?

Has any one opened up one of these?

I'd like to know if it's suitable body donor for my DIY subminiature tube mic project, e.g.: is there enough space for a decent transformer? Is it possible to swap the XLR connection for a 6 pin one?

Any other suggestions? (I want it to be straight cylinder body)

That mic body is plenty big enough , I believe Mshilarious actually built a sub mini tube mic into an XLR connector ... But if your going to build a Tube mic You might as well build a real tube mic .....

I built almost 200 of them . . .

Subminis are entirely different beasts than the usual mic tubes; enjoy them for what they are.

It's probably possible to use a 3 pin XLR to do a tube mic, if you take advantage of the chassis as ground you actually have four pins. Then do high-volt phantom into the trafo and use the extra pin for the heater. Any other voltages you should be able to derive internally.
