Fresh outa the oven, guys. Some old school metal about a little lady vampire.....
Definitely not the final mix, I just finished recording it today.
Tell me what stands out and must be fixed, ears are shot anyway, so I'll be letting it lie for a coupla days before the final mix.

Would appreciate your comments. ;)

Joey:

Mix is fine - my sugestion: frequencies around the 200-300 range could be improved (gain) with a "fatter" snare drum and guitars.

(how´s Demis?):D

Sounds good to me, Joey. You've got an incredible voice, especially for this type of rock.

Fuck dude, that's pretty good for a mix right out of the chute.

I think the rhythm gits can be louder. Bottom end seems fine to me. Drums could be louder but samples sound really good.

Good job.

Yup, this sounds great man. No advice here (sorry :), but I did want you to know I checked it out and was impressed as usual by the complexity of your arrangement and the vocals in particular. :)

This mix sounds really, really good. You have a nice blend of old school medal (al la Queensryche/Judas) with mid 90's grunge (a la Alice and Soundgarden), that makes for a great listen.

The toll bells in the beginning and in the breakdown have been overdone imo (but I'm guessing it's a nod to Metallica).

Your voice sounds great. The performance is on. Sounds cool.

Whoa - Incanus and I are working on a song called Marie, which is also about a vampire chick.

I like your voice.

Snare could be fatter, no real problems with the mix.

Maybe a little more verb on the guitars.

CIRO -
Thanx for the tip, bro, I'll see to that snare. On hearing it again it really needs some meat.

RAMI - Thankx bud, really appreciate your opinion.

Greg_L - Hey Greg, every time I programme a kit I keep thinking would Greg and Rami do this or do that....:D. I'm pretty happy with the samples I have and Battery has a cool humanize function. The cymbals and hats I sampled myself with my son's Paiste 101's. Glad you like it!

heatmiser - Thanx for giving it a listen!

ksounds - All those comparisons do me honour ;) That's what i thought about the toll bells too, but then I said hey, what the hell, they fit the part and the theme of the song. Thanx for the nice comments!

Supercreep - Don't worry, the more vampires, the better....:D
I'll be checking out the stuff you mentioned. Your stuff rocks like hell! Thanx for listening.

Thanx for all your comments guys, I know I can rely on you all for help. :):):)

Joey,
cool!
I'd have preferred a deeper, more resonant bell as in Black Sabbath (real old school - you've managed some other true old school moments on this for certain) but this one sounds OK.
You've done a great job.
The intro fill on the kit could use something - don't know what.
Terrific 1st post mix - the rhythms gits could be a little louder as said but terrific work.
Now, the video clip...

The bell is actually a down-tuned ride cymbal. I down-tuned it in Battery, I can tune it deeper, but I wanted it to sound like a small mexican chapel toll bell...:D I'll be checking all the stuff you mentioned in the "real" mix.
Yeah, a video with plenty of CGI effects and a cool looking vampire chick...now if only I had a million dollars.:D

Sounds pretty rad to me man... especially the bell clang. That was a great idea. You singing is cool, too. I apreciate the healthy layer of humor present here.

What I'd concentrate on in future mixes, J, is the balance between the guitars and the drums.

This is a guitar heavy, drum thin, balance. You've got these wonderful pounding fills, and though they can be heard, they're occurring behind the curtain of guitars.

The drums deserve at least equal presence on the sound stage. As is, they're implied and suggested, not demanding and as urgent as the gits. You sort of have to listen around the gits to get them, where they should be full force and in face alongside.

Just my two, but I think the energy of the mix could be turned up a notch or two if you can get those levels "right there together"; well balanced and synergizing.

Thanx C! Yeah, vampires can be funny too...:D

K-dub -
definitely will work on the drums and the guitars again, Kev. Like I said, this is not the end-mix and I'd really like it to kick ass some more. Thanx for your comments! :)

MUCH better balance between the gits and drums, Joe ... but I might pop the high toms just a smidge more forward. You want to feel the fills in your chest.

Other than that, this is a greatly improved mix from the first ... everything is clearer, punchier and fits tighter together.

holly hell! this sounds nice!

the only thing i would suggest is a tad bit more electric rhythm guitars, and tighten up the low end. I dont know if its the bass guitar or the kick...but it has a ringy low end that just doesnt feel tight.

i think its fine the way it is, but just my personal preferences suggested.

Way to go Joey! Freakin nice!

Awesome job, hermano! The second mix is much much better. Glad to know you are still working on your songs. Un abrazo.

K-dub -
OK, Kev, shouldn't be a problem to push those toms a little higher. Thanks for all the help!

bkkornaker -
Thanx Bryan! Do you think the rythm gits should be louder? With the low end, I'm still getting used to using my SanSamp DI to record the bass. Might not be perfect there, but I'll work on it. Appreciate your comments!

Marcadiablo -
Hey Alex, that's your kick drum there...:D
Don't worry, I'll stop making music the day I drop dead...;)
Gracias hermano!

Cool Joey!!!!
As usual, you blow me away with your complex arrangements & great guitar playing!!! I'm not qualified for any nits, but if you're asking, I think the low end needs to be a little louder. Great song, great playing/singing!!! I'm hearin' some Dio vocals in there man, great job!!!
