Samson C03 - dissapointed

Just a guess here, but I don't think I would have a SAMSON in my arsenal. Samson doesn't go off in my head like oh yeah I really need a Samson. EV, CAD, Neumann, AT, (the list is way longer, but you get the idea) these are well respected names in microphones. I know there are very good well suited cheaper lines of mics like the Joe Meeks, Marshalls, etc., and they all get good reviews here from some people, but it's best to really check them out before you buy. If you can't do it at your local music store, check posts here, do searches, I hate to see people spend money to be totally disappointed. We've all done it, myself included, but I will say I have only been a member here since February and already this site has saved me a LOT of headaches. There is a wealth of knowledge here, so use it to your advantage. Good Luck and Great Recording.

Now you know why I love and prefer Rode mics. They are so quiet if you hear anything at all it IS the environment.....not the mic. :D

Also if anyone knows of any sites that have mic audio samples would be great too. Hopfeully someone takes the time to read this I know its awfully long.

This band uses Samson CO3 in their recordings. Check out their music and hear for yourself how they sound with this mic. :)

The mic is really "hissy" . I recorded 2 vocal tracks with one (borrowed)and the C03 works in the mix, but...(important) the other channels were synths, drums samples and guitars with line 6 POD. I think that in a mix with five, six, ...ten tracks with this mic, you´re in trouble ...

Is a SM-58 considered noisy? Been reading a lot and that seems like a good mic for the buck. Want to use for vocals. Still confused on what pre-amp to buy for it. Have tascam 1082 board with phantom power and Sonar 5. Any thoughts?

i own the co3usb when i turn on the 10 db cut it gives me that same noise.
try it u never know

Someone also asked about the preamp...right now I'm plugged into a PreSonus Inspire 1394.
What's the gain setting on the Inspire? Mine's pretty noisy when I push it past about 11 o'clock.

You might try cutting a track with the gain on the Inspire down really low, like 9 o'clock or lower, even if the result is not too audible - then, in your DAW, increase the gain on the track up to the point where you like it and see if it's still as noisy that way.

I don't know anything about that mic, btw.
