Sounds AWESOME

Lots of low end, but it doesnt get in the way of anything else.

Great effects, great playing, great tones. . .

The only thing I MIGHT do is make the lead solo guitar a little louder. I think my speakers might be bugging out though, so I may be wrong

My two nits:

1. Drums a bit too loud, especially during snare or toms rolls - and this coming from a drummer!

2. Bum notes on the synth line during the intro made me cringe.

Aside from that - this is a great rendition! The guitar solo fucking rocks! You did a great job with this one, man.

Why do people think YYZ is hard to play on the drums? It's really not....I'm also being completely serious on this...

Get a sample of like a jar breaking or something...or just sample it from the track.....

i was gonna ask.....you want some real drums for this? i'll be glad to lay some down when i get a chance. ;)

really, the drums on YYZ are creative and the part is excellent--but compared to some of their other stuff, they're not that hard.

the "crack" sound you hear is a piece of sheet metal being hit with (IIRC) a sledgehammer. i'd replicate it with a "cracker" (one of those wooden percussion toys that simulates a whip crack) and reverb it to hell and back.

cheers,
wade

Cool stuff Metaldude...some nice playing there. I enjoyed it....

Articulate guitar, nicely recorded. Really nice playing. Drumset sounds good. I'd back off the level of the snare just a little. I don't hear many artificial drum tracks that don't detract from the mix. Kudos on that. The guitar is flamenco-ish 2:35-3:00.

Thanks everybody!

Here is a new version with a redone bass, and a couple of bits fixed on the guitar tracks, remixed completely, and I managed to come up with a suitable cracking sound for the solo. :p

I tried to fix the bum notes that MadAudio was hearing, but they all seemed right to me. The timbre was different and the string patch I was using was swelling too slowly so I used a little more synthetic sounding patch. Maybe the suboctave mud on the bass was making it sound so off?

Anyway, here it is:

I really like the new bass tone...pretty cool. Is it just how you mixed it, or did you change the overall tone? Pretty good mix man...sounds cool.

No, I redid it completely. I didn't use any freaky effects, just some distortion and a little chorus.
Thanks Dog

Somehow I have just zoned in on those wrong synth notes that Madaudio pointed out. I don't know how I didn't notice that before. I think they are 2 note chords, and I was zeroing in on a single note somewhere in the middle of em....lol.

Good god man, that is awesome. I reckon I refer this to the version on Guitar Hero 2 :D

Two thumbs way, way up.

Sounds much better, but the last three notes of the synth are still off. It should be F#-G#-D#-C#-C.

Loving the new bass tone. It's got more of that "Rick-O-Sound" to it now.
