Running the PA amps hot

Plus, if you can't put you amp rack away from public hands, say at a bar gig, running the amps wide open prevents any drunk patrons from turning them up.




It's stuff like this poop that made me swear off bars all together about 20 years ago ..... best thing I ever did and I never looked back.
I had three bars with a huge PA and huge light show rented to each venue, the money was great but the headaches where just as huge.
 
Run them full, "If it's too loud your too old" or if the system needs tuning do it from the crossovers (when running active systems), processors, limiters / compressors, main graphics, etc.

Volume controls on power amps are the biggest waste of time as they are just another device the signal has to run through, you only use them when you turn them on and off to avoid the thump! That can be fixed by makers installing soft start and soft off circuits.

yeah 'cause the 15 seconds it takes to do that is a huge burden.
