running 6.4, can i open 7.X ?

i'm still running pt 6.4, will i be able to open pro tools 7 and above files, or will i have to get them to do a *save session copy*
and have them save it as a pt 6 file?

No, you'll have to save them as 6.x sessions.

funny thing is, I am running 7.4, and haven't been able to find the save as "older PT file" selection.

Per digidesign website:

In order to open a Pro Tools 7.x session with Pro Tools version 6.9 or lower, the Pro Tools 7 user must save the session in Pro Tools 5.1 format. Use the File > Save Copy In command to choose the destination session format (such as 5.1–6.x) and other options.
