I am modding a telecaster to put humbuckers in it. It is already a Deluxe, so it has very large humbucker routes, but I still have to make the routs deeper to accept normal humbuckers.
is it okay to have space around the pickup? or is it better if it is snug with the wood?
I could go get a regular tele and route it for humbuckers and create a nicer fit.
if it is not an issue, should I go ahead and make the cuts wider so that I can have a separate p-90 pickguard to swap in?
i dont want to fuck up the tone though but having too big of routes.
