Hey guys, I'm looking for a small but great sounding bedroom amp for both practice and (direct) recording...
I've narrowed my options to these 2.
Right now I have a Roland 405 for practice, it's a nice amp, but it doesn't have reverb and I really need reverb.
Both the Trademark 10 and Cube 30 have reverb.
I do have 2 distortion pedals right now (Hughes and Kettner Tubefactor and Boss MT-2 MetalZone) and I'm gonna buy a delay pedal soon... so the effects from the Cube 30 are nice to have but not a loss if I wouldn't have 'em.
I do like the idea of the TM10's XLR out, FX Loop and seperate headphone and ext. speaker outputs...

Will the 8" speaker of the TM10 crap out fast or can it handle much? The Roland 405 that I now have has 4 5" speakers and they occasionally crap out with heavy distortion palm muted metal stuff... my current fx chain is
Vox V847 wah--->MT-2-->Tubefactor--->CH-1 chorus.
I use the MT-2 as a boost to kick the Tubefactor more... I get quite a cool sound from this. Kinda like Guns N' Roses meets Iron Maiden on steroids...

Anyway, which of these 2 amps would you recommend? I'll probably won't use 'em for gigging (Next year I'm getting an Engl Savage Special stack for that.. :cool: ;) )

I'd go trademark 10. 8" speaker? so what... you'd never it was 8" unless you looked. they roar. I shit you not. I've never tried the Roland. I am a Roland fan, however. JC120... corn fed by my sansamp/tech21 stuff and a mesa boogie v-twin. Totally destroys my Marshall. And I love my Marshall.

Do I even have to give my opinion? Especialy because the Trademark 10 is based on the GT2? I think you know my answer. It's a no brainer. :D

However, I haven't tried the Roland and can't comment.

Be that as it may, the TM10 is excellent for metal and for clean with a great variety in between. It doesn't sacrifice quality to get the variety.

Maiden on steroids? When did Eddie start bodybuilding? :eek:

yeah, Lopp, he IS a skinny mofo, isn't he? ;)

But I've played with different fx orders and when I put the MT-2 behind the Tubefactor I don't gain anything. I mean, the MT-2 will compress the shit outta everything, so turning up the volume and drive on the Tubefactor wouldn't matter much. However, with the MT-2 IN FRONT of the Tubefactor, it's a charm. I'll set the MT-2 to only 20-30% distortion (drive) but to 60-70% level. This way the MT-2 will make all notes sustain as hell. I played along with some old Santana tracks (Illuminations, Oye Como Va) and I beat him sustain-wise... :cool: But this way the MT-2 will sound kinda thin by itself...then I kick in the Tubefactor on Factor 1 (pure tube)...rock! and for some leadwork + level, I'll kick in Factor 2 (added clipping diode).
Yeah, most tube purist would see this as 1st class blasphemy, but I think most openminded metalheads will really dig this tone... kinda like a SLO100 meets a JCM800... (my fav metal tones).
