i don't really label vocals.. like ra[p/hiphop vox, or rock vox.
i go for a clean vocal chain. i mainly produce r&b these days, but i have hiphop artist, crunk type artist, poets etc..
the dmp3 is a good pre for the money, thats no lie. i never got the sound i wanted using them though. when i stepped up to a aphex 201, 1100 i got a great vocal sound that i was actually impressed with... all ppl that here things that i do never think it was made in a basement studio. my next buy will be a neve pre.. something along the lines of a vintech or chandler. i see now pres make a huge difference, but it depends on the mics you have too.
anyone use the K2 yet, i'll be ordering one on friday
