Well for what it's worth, I chose the TB1 because I tried both the NT1 and NT1A and really didn't like the sibilant factor. They are not bad mics, just not for my vocals. They seemed thin and even if detailed, they were lacking in something. It didn't sound like my voice to me or the other two people with me to help me compare.
I was going to get the C1 when I called up PMI and asked their opinion on B1 or C1. After discussing what I wanted, they felt the B1 would be better for my voice, but there was a TB1 B stock that would be somewhere in between the C1 and B1, at least that's how I understood it.
So, I bought the TB1 and love it. It is not over hyped, not honky, not boxy, but very clear and with
my Joemeek threeQ I can use it with very little EQ. It sounds great for up close vocals and also works well at 12 to 24 inches.
The thing is, you must consider what you want the mic to do. For me it was MY vocal mic first and then to be used for micing elect guitar amps and acoustic. I've done all three and also several other voices and it worked great for all of them. Also, you must remember we all have different ears, hear different things and the human voice sounds very different to the singer compared to the listener. I would suggest you take someone who knows your voice and let them hear you sing in the mics and take their input. As we say in the opera world, you are not getting paid to hear your own voice!
Just my 2 cents!
