Rode NT1A - Vs - SP C1 Which is the best bang for buck???

PLEASE ONLY VOTERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH BOTH OF THESE MICS SPECIFICALLY OR AT LEAST HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE WITH BOTH RODE AND STUDIO PROJECT MICS.

(I'm trying to keep this thing as objective as possible)

I own a C1 and NT1, but you should of put the Marshall MXL V67G in the poll. I voted for the Rode NT1, but I would have voted for the Marshall MXL V67G had it been in the poll. I have a small little studio and my reasoning for the choicing the V67G over the C1 and NT1 is based on the fact that in my studio the V67G seems to work for more types of voices than the other two mic's. So if I could only own one of the three mic's, I'd pick the MXL V67G, also it seems to sit in a mix easy it that makes any sense.

they both sounds great. the c1 is brighter..the nt1a has a better overall sound IMO... the NT1A is also very quiet. you can't go wrong with either mic, but to me the NT1A is the better buy

The NT1 has been almost universally panned on this board. Do these responses mean the NT1A is a big step up?

I own both these mic, bought the NT1 first, and used it for about a year. Upon reciept of the C1 I put my NT1 away and havent used it since. The C1 Seems to fit into the mix better than the NT1. It seems like I allways had to EQ the crap out of the NT1. I would say hands down the C1 is a better mic than the NT1.

My NT1 lasted about a week, the mic sucked ass.

I had a decent sounding NT1 (NOT the newer NT1A) and a C1. I compared them side by side on male voice, female voice and acoustic guitar. The C1 was, hands down, my favorite – but what do I know? Even though I liked the C1 better on the guitar, neither impressed me as a decent acoustic guitar mic. Again, I know nothing about the newer NT1A. Anyone compared the NT1 to the NT1A? I sold the NT1 and kept the C1.

My $0.02 +/- a few db...

When I did my comparison, the C1 was clearly a bit more detailed and open and just plain sat better in the mix. Not hardly a "night and day" thing, but enough for me to know that I probably wouldn’t be using the NT1 as long as I had the C1.

Doh! I thought you said the C1 and NT1, but you said the C1 and B1 – sorry! Guess I ought to learn to read before coming to these forums!

IMO, the Studio Projects C series mic's sound exaggerated, where as the B series mic's sound more natural.

DJL. . .thats interesting that you would think that. The response charts given on the SP website allude to the B1 having a slightly more exaggerated sound (in both the upper and lower registers). I guess I'll have to get those CD's flatpicker mentioned.

According to Rode the NT1A is a completely redesigned mic. The NT1 is hard to find new, seems like it has been replaced by the A. Anybody got one?

i like the sound of the NT1A over the c1.. it sounds or natural and have very little noise..

the nt1a is the gold loking nt1 for the ppl that haven't seen them..my friend got his form 8thstreet.
