Just in case anybody might care... zZounds.com has nt-1 for $169 and nt-2 for $339 (I'd be careful about the nt-2, cuz they might not include the case and the shockmount at that price, but the nt-1 don't include 'em anyway :))

If everybody knows this, feel free to delete this thread. Thanks.

I think zZounds.com is THE place to buy gear on the web. They usually beat everybody elses prices, plus no tax or shipping. I've had good luck with them so far.

They don't have great deals on everything, but it's still a good idea to check them first. Also, they don't carry all the brands that others carry. Gotta love 'em, though.

Mr Junky, I would *love* another NT-1 for that price. But they don't ship outside the US. :(

Anybody here from Seattle? I have a cunning plan. :)

Hey, Dob, I wouldn't mind helping you with your "cunning" plan and the company I worked for lets me ship (and they have a lower rate with RPS (Fedex Ground). Do you get FedEx?

I could help ya out, if you're willing to prepay it and the shipping via PayPal. You can check my profile on ebay for reliability and also I'm "verified" at Paypal, so you're safe. It's always a pleasure to help out a fellow musician/recordist. BTW, I have a back-order with them right now and I get free shipping on it (to my house), so I can add it to the order!

Let me know if you want my help (e-mail me zakat@altavista.com, that's also my ebay id)

Word of advice

Just to let you guys know, local music stores (chain or mom & pop) are willing to match prices. Print out the webpage from zzounds.com, write down the 1800 number (so they can call and verify if need be) and you are set. I know for sure Guitar Center does. I'd assume Mars and Sam Ash will also. Working in a retail store as a salesman, I know the first priority is customer satisfaction, and selling shit. They'll do what it takes to get you to shop...just give them the price and they should match it.

hey dobro, i thought NT1 is available in Singapore for around Singaporean $360. so with shipping zZounds' price doesn't give much savings...

i'm saving for one myself.

$370 last time I checked, but the zzounds price works out to about $290. What would it cost to Fedex a Rode here? I've emailed them to find out. Might be less trouble just to take the bus out to Team 108. :)

Stop saving for the NT-1 and just buy it. Rob a 7-11 or something. :) The only problem you'll have with it is if you live in an HDB flat or something - it picks up *every* noise.

something ive been thinking of doing for a long time. taking the source from a webstore and changing it a little saving it on my harddrive, then changing the price not too dramatically. but just like make it look like it sy 24 hour sale or something. print it out and go rip off mars or GC. hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...... i was at GC, and i asked about the motu 1224, and he was all "man we're having those on bow out" so i asked him what price they had, and he didnt know. the dumbass, so he checked. all trying to pretend like i have no idea whats going on and he is like $1200 flat. i laughed in his face and told i saw them on regular price fo $1100 at mars the day before and he stated to defend himself. what a bitch. to top it off i was at GC because my drummer busted his snare drum so he was buying a new one. he walks in and the dumbass guy was talking down to him trying to sell him shit snares with bad hardware and he asked what kit he has. he told him DW, he then was like "woa, those are good" we're thinking this guy isa genius. then he asks how long he has been play, and drummer proceeds to say 14 years. And salesman then realises that the guy buying knows about 54309 times more about drums then himself. i want to walk into GC and beat people senseless so they realise they areny very good salesman.

Clever

About that printing out of Web pages:I have been successful a couple of times and I have gotten the price matched, but the last few times I'e tried the page prints out MINUS the prices! I guess someone is on to us...

Impressive price tag. I just got an Audio Technica AT3525 for $164 (+$10 shipping) on eBay. I love it, but my bedroom as UGLY acoustics and a noisy PC fan. :)
If I had a real job that was earning me some MONEY I'd probably grab a couple NT1s.
