I'm hearing a lot of buzz (clipping?) during the distant vocals.

Finster, this is getting ridiculous. Everything you put your hand in seems to come out amazing. I've got nothing to add from a technical standpoint...only that the song is just as incredible as everything else I've heard you do. Those vocals are sweet as hell.

Gosh, thanks man. :o

I didnt know you could play such mean guitar Purge.

You and i should do a home rec shreders collab or somethin', thatd be fun.

Like some punk bitch rythm with a ton of shred/noodling over it.

Fun stuff.

Thanks for the listen. :D

I do have to say this song is catchy...I've already listened to it about 3 times. Some vocal parts resemble a slight Geoff Tate style. Pretty cool.

Anyway...I'm using Windows Media Player (WMP) and generally have the 4k boosted a little because it always seems to play things a little dull. I'm not sure if the WMP is causing it to get buzzy, but it's definitely there (starts aroung 0:53 ish).

Again...very nice tune!

What kinda guitar setup might that be?

Carvin bx100 tube head.
Marshall 1960 4x12 cab.
Royer Ribbon up close.
Avalon 737.
Some subtractive eq (waves ren. eq)

Nice! Tate is the man!

Ok ill check the buzzy thing again, but i really dont hear it.

Thanks again David.

Chris, I'm in love with the singer's voice. Been listening off and on all morning. I'm not hearing auto tuning, is she really that spot-on? The fullness and accuracy sounds like she's had stage or classical coaching. You know I'm out of my own performing element here, so pls take my comments with my lack of expertise in mind.

At 1:12 when the vocal EQ changes from the "telephone" effect back to normal it made me think that since her voice is so good it might be effective to start with the non-EQ'd sound and use the varied tone after. But you're probably thinking of expressive aspects I'm not sensitive to, and how the song fits in on a CD, so never mind that.

Guitar's hot and rhythmically tight. I love the L/R contrast thing with the gtr that's in your face right away. Sounds like you mic'd the amp with the distortion in the tracking but I still had the impression that maybe it'd add to the expressive contrasts in the song if the guitar's tone was just a little cleaner during the less intense parts - to have anther dimension to the guitar's intesity as the ebb and flow builds. Maybe that's bullsh*t though, because the whole song's pretty intense (and I agree about and appreciate the varied dynamics).

I like the drum part's build-up and "heart thump" effect at peaks of intensity (first at 1:50).

Great mix. Made my morning.

Right on Timothy :)

She took a year of voice lessons in college, but no autotune here, just a few extra takes for perfections sake ;) .

The singer is my GF so i can get away with my perfectionist ways a bit more.
Its nice.

The guitar tone at the front of the song....i tried it clean, but liked the dirty better in the end.

Im glad it made youre morning too!

That kina stiff is always great to hear.

Thanks for the listen bro.

Chris,
My earlier post regarding the 'buzzing' sound turns out not to be your recording (as you probably already knew :)). I've played many other songs on WMP with 2k turned up slightly and any song starts to crackle. What's up with that? Anyway...sorry if I've caused any distress.

Good tune,sounds good

the guitar(s) sound(s) really good especially during the verse

it sounds like things are fighting for position(in the mix) during the chorus

not sure I dig the effect on the vox (verse) ,I think I do (on 2nd listen)

and I think the vox might be to dry during the first part of the chorus

I think the vox needs a little better placement in the mix and fights with the

guitar for dominance

maybe a little louder vox or a little more verb on the git will fix that

I dig the tune, good playing, cool sound , might benefit from a slight remix

Thanks for the review man.
There is definetly a remix happening next week sometime.
Just some minor things that are bugging me, including some of what you mentioned.
Thanks for the review Muse, youve got some good insight. :)

Yeah the guitars are a tad buzzy, but in whole a good mix.
Are you influenced by Tool or A perfect circle, probably Tool more i can hear.
Some nice bass licks in there. Maybe lay off the 1-2K on the guitars a little with a wide small cut.

Im with you on the guitars, Ecktronic, i think thats the reason the guits and vox are fighting, and i actually DID a wide boost on the guitars IN the 1 and 2k regions, so ill just back that off a bit.

Love tool man, but havent listen to them in about 4 years so Im not sure theyre really an influnce so much now,

Thanks for the listen Ecktronic.

dude, I like it. The guitars are RAUNCHY
