True, I didn't examine the author closely enough - but my point remains the same. I'm assuming whoever wrote the original article was someone high up in the corporation - I freely admit my ignorance about the specific personalities involved. It's still refreshing to see that kind of balanced analysis!

Making an issue of a wall wart at the very begining and apologizing for it is only to keep the complaints from showing up in the reviews when It comes out.

A lot of that article was from an email that Mark sent me, when he sent the prototype RNP. Mark is an honest and very funny guy and a great recording engineer, btw.

I guess he decided to explain the design philosophy behind the RNP and this would be typical McQuilken humor, with some great insights thrown in. You hafta admit, a $500 commercial product with the i/o's labeled "Gozinta" and "Gozouta" shows a slight bit of irreverence. When it comes to the actual sound of the unit, I can assure you that Mark is deadly serious.

(One of Mark's early posts on r.a.p. was how to modify an RNC for use as a paperweight or as a doorstop.)

This FMR "Corporation" is great. Mark is totally honest and self-depreciating.

When I ordered my RNC from them, it was Beth McQ who took my order.

When I did something STUPID and cooked out some of the DSP on my RNC they fixed it at what could not have been a profit.

Those guys are great. Exactly the type of company I like to deal with.

Wow. A guy who makes a reputation for himself simply by making a superior product at affordable prices. No need for self-promotion or personal horn-tooting.

Imagine that. :D

Yep thats how people did business years ago nothing wrong with good ole fashioned business

ever wondered why your modern day vechicle will never live as long as your 50,s chev or ford hmmmmmm

Ya know why is that so rare these days.

I earned a BBA in marketing (before I went back to school and into the medical field) because I did not want to do sales and the whole marketing concept they taught me in a nutshell was this:

Do your research to find out what un-met (or under-met) needs exist in the market place. Figure out what they can pay (not what you can gouge them for), what they want/need with what features, do it better than anyone else for your price point and let them know when and where it is available.

AKA "Build a better a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path to your door."

Nowhere in that concept was "sales" in the sense it is still used today.

It is refreshing to read about FMR and some other company's here that actually do this but disheartening that so few other companies in all industries can figure this simple concept out.

While building the RNP *with its features and price point) borders on rocket science to me - recognizing the opportunity and need in the market place for it ceritainly is not.

I agree it is soooo refreshing to hear someone be honest about their products benefits and potential shortcomings instead of corporate BS smoke screens that is labeled as "marketing".
