I have my Behringer ADA8000 linked via ADAT to my RME FF800. I have the RME set to sync to the ADAT 1 In and have the Behringer ADA8000 set on Master at 48khz.

It's not working, though. It will lock for a few seconds and then it will lose the connection and try to sync again.

Any ideas?

I'm guessing I'll have to run an ADAT cable from my RME out into the ADA8000 in and set the RME as the master...which, would probably be loads better, anyway.

I was using a Multiface, but anyway what I did was get a cheap BNC cable to connect the wordclock out to the wordclock in on the ADA8000. Works OK for me. I think at first I had them linked with the ADAT in using the ADA8000 as master, so I'm not sure why that isn't working for you. Do you have the RME set on "Autosync" with the Pref Sync Ref on ADAT In or whatever?

It was working the last time I check it but it wasn't working last night for some reason. As for the BNC, I can't really wait. I have a tracking session on Thursday. Best Buy has ADAT cables so I might go up there and snag one.

I can't believe that you used the terms Behringer and RME in the same sentence!:p

You said you set the fireface to clock itself from the ADAT input. Did you make sure that the adat input is set to ADAT and not optical s/pdif as far as the clocking goes?

You do what you can afford, Tim. I needed 8 more channels for drums and the Behri was the right price at the time. It still is considering my money level.

Yep, I sure did. I've played around with the settings and nothing works. It used to clock off the Behri. I went to Best Buy last night and picked up another ADAT cable. I'm going to give that a whirl and see if it fixes it.

You can find a BNC cable as easily as an ADAT cable. Connect the two units via a BNC and lock the Behringer to the RME clock. You really *don't* want to be syncing the RME off the Behringer.

I picked up an ADAT cable last night from Best Buy for only $11. It was a brand that was on clearance. I just hooked it up and it works like a champ now. No problems locking to the RME.

I've had ADAT cables go bad too. I think what happens is the lens gets cracked or scratched or somehow impaired.
