I'm looking to get the most out my microphone and these two seem quite highly regarded.

Between the two of them, which has the better preamps and quality? Is the Robbie worth the extra $200?

Thank you for reading. :)

This is somewhat like comparing apples to oranges. The Blue Robbie is only a mic preamp, right? While the Babyface is a USB interface for your computer with two preamps included. If you buy the Robbie, you still have to figure out how you are going to get the signal into your computer DAW. Working from the assumption that you only have a mic of some kind, I would go with the RME. You can always add better preamps and A/D-D/A converters to your signal chain later. I used to own an RME fireface 800, and it is it is capable of solid recordings all on it's own. The babyface would be similar quality but on a smaller scale.

So what would you plug the Robbie itself into? You couldn't plug it directly into the Babyface?

Also, what of the quality between the two? Which has better preamp quality?

What mic do you have?

Do you already have an audio interface?

The Robbie isn't going to be very useful without a decent interface.

Right, so would the RME Babyface be good?

Read the reviews and decide for yourself.

The reviews at Sweetwater are all positive as far as I could tell.

I'm sure a Blueberry is gonna sound great through the Babyface.

I run a BLUE Cactus through a Davisound TB-10 (Solid State straight-wire-with-gain preamp) > LynxAudio 2A > Sonar X2 and have never been disappointed with that setup.

RME makes high-quality interfaces that are used by plenty of Homereccors and pro studios.

The Blueberry is a great mic, BTW. After you hear it you'll want to do some treatment in your room to really get the best performance from both the mic and your room.
