I just read a review (in "Sound on Sound") on the most recent edition of Cubase to come out, and it's not the most positive review in the world. It says it has a lot of potential, but they've done so much overhauling that it's almost like Cubase is going back to Version 1; there are many features that seem relatively useless until other companies decide to support them, plus is says the difference between Cubase 4 and Cubase Studio ($999, and $499 respectively) is very minimal for the average user. I was just wondering if any of you guys have personal experience with it yet. I've been looking lately into changing my system around a bit - perhaps even going completely Linux (Agnula/Demudi), and am not sure yet if I want to upgrade to the newest version.

Well I'm waiting before i buy it for there first major update which provides sidechaining capabilities. Once it's there and i know it works. I'll be buying it.

Think Ill stick with SX3 for now. Skint anyway!

i've got it and no need to wait if your planning on doing it anyway... all the upgrades within a major product cycle are free .... so your covered till C5 in a couple of years.... the next upgrade is expected at namm when they are expected to unveil N4...

Yeah, it's more of an issue of whether or not I actually want to change all my software around for something that may be of lesser quality.

i'm soory did i miss something ... what software are you on at present???? the only real drag about C4 is IF you've got lotsa money tyed up in dxi standard vst's and that may not be much of an issue if you do as there are wrappers available to work around the change and waves (where most of the grief seems to come from) is rewritng ther's to the new vst3 standard...
