Hello all.
Since I record everything dry on my comp I need to find a good reverb. Right now Im using Sonic foundrys plugins but they sound way to harsh to me. Any suggestions?

Kev,

The Sonic Foundry reverb is the single worst software reverb I have ever heard! Play a claves or side stick sound through it to reveal how terrible it really is. It sounds like gravel rolling around in a tin can.

Much better is the reverb that comes with the UltraFunk plug-ins pack:

www.ultrafunk.com

You can buy the reverb separetely, but if you can afford the entire collection you should get that. It's the last set of plug-ins you'll ever need.

Yea,the Sonic Foundry reverb really does sound like gravel rolling around in a tin can. Plug-ins are the way I want to go so I'll check out the UltraFunk. 50 bucks for a good reverb,I can handle that! Thanks.

I like the Timeworks 4080L reverb and the Waves Trueverb.

Both are FAR superior to the sonic foundry and similar grainy verbs. They (esp the Waves) can sound almost like a real room if you want. The timeworks is very smooth in 64 bit mode to my ears.

Cool, thanks ebeam. I'll have to check those out to. Any idea on the prices? Thanks.

I'm in the same boat. I'm using the Sonic Foundry plug-ins from Sound Forge because they are all I have, and I'm not happy with their sound. However they are the ONLY plugins I have found that seem to work trouble-free.

There is a free plug-in called Freeverb that I actually thought sounded pretty good, unfortunately it caused my computer to act a bit flakey.

A demo of the Wave compressor plug-in caused even more odd behavior until I uninstalled it. But I have not tried the Waves reverb plug-in. However I am also open to suggestions!

Thanks for the other suggestions. I think at this point almost anything is better than the sonic foundry wanna be reverb. I checked out the wavs trueverb and all I can say is wow! That is one nice sounding reverb.

My favorite verb by far is Timeworks ReverbX. It's a big CPU hog though. Waves RVerb comes in next in my book. I don't like Trueverb much. The rest of the software verbs are mostly junk.
