subtle

i've been listening to the original, and switcthing to the new mix back and forth for about ten minute's now. very subtle difference's to my "ear's", i already liked the song ,so it was a good 10 minutes. there were some thing's in the new mix that i did'nt know were on the original. like right after the intro when the git's kick in i could hear key's?? or something in the back(sorry i dont know what it is) but i liked it! there were little things like that that i could now hear through out the song.

i like this one better, i don't know , thing's just seemed to occupy there own "space" better, so the overall mix sounds cleaner??

anyway, it's weird for me to try to find the small difference's. but it has been very educational for me. so thanks for posting a remix!!!:p

again, i already liked the tune.

peace

hey fender thanks for being the first! :D I never know anything until I get at least one other pair of ears on it.. I thought this was going to fall off the page with no comments, even though I checked the Nowhere stats and saw that it was played..

I took that as a bad sign..

I raised the vocals a lot and the extras, and I also e.q.'d the music more so than usual.. I'm glad to hear it sounds at least a little better..

thanks man!

I still think the laughing at the beginning sounds fake though..

damn, i love that bridge sammy!

Those chord changes are freakin beautiful man (the "I guess you are one of them..." part) your guitar has the sweetest tone. Are you using 13 guage strings???! :) Heavy, heavy!!! the voice has an interesting (but good!) sound to it, like it's boosted at 500Hz or something (plus some chorus). "Some day, I'll return to the chains". Don't have the orig on my HD, so can't comment on the remix... but this sounds pretty good. Something to try -- maybe? With the vox upper-low heavy, take something out of the snare during the chorus? Dunno. Just a suggestion. Might tighten it up just a bit. Love it tho!! It'd take me 10 more years on my guit to get this kind of tone :( ;)

After this, ya think W.I.S.C. will tell ya to give him some heavy biotch??????? ;););):D:D:D:cool::cool:

Vocals rock!! I love the inflection in your delivery and the vox up mix makes it really add to the mood of the tune. The psyco theatrics really bleed through!!

Glad you've decided to comb your archives and apply the vox up approach to other tunes.

Peace,

Theron.

im to new here to have the original as well but i really dig this song to me..in the begining when you come in with the harnony voice it sorta reminds of (gulp) ozzy sound what is that the vocals are running through???....can i have one??..lol

jamal

As far as my memory allows me to judge...........this is much better. The vocal is understandable now and I seem to remember that the other one wasn't to my ears. Also I seem to be able to differentiate between the instruments better. great tune, of course, and it sounds like you're getting more comfortable with mixing you voice up hotter. I like your tunes always and your voice is a big part of that. Coooool stuff. :D

mixmkr - yeah the beginning laughs are fake.. like when people laugh at my jokes, sometimes it's fake... :) thanks senor mixmkr

participant - ya got the words wrong, but the feeling was there.:D For what I dont have in guitar ability, I try to make up for in sound... it's hit or miss.. thanks for the tips!

theron - thumbs up is cool! thx my man

jamal - yeah Ozzy's rules! :D thanks..

Lt.Bob - appreciate the ears.. I'm messing around with e.q. a lot more.. I can hear big differences in both versions, but I guess it's because I have heard them both a bazillion times. :D

thanks for the ears as always! :)

Hey Sam,
I dont believe that Ive heard this song before, so I cant offer much as far as a comparison. The mix sounds great. And I like the levels....... .....the heavy transition into the "meat" at around :30 is very nice. Ok......I know we have been through this before, but are you putting an intentional "bull-hornish" effect on the lead vocs? They sound middy and harsh again whenever they climb up a bit. It isnt the levels, they are fine........and I dont hear it on the harmonies. It makes me think that it is an intentional thing. If it is, I still think it might be just a tad harsh. (perhaps a gain issue in the original track recording, or on the voc proc.?) Great song, Very nice mix!!! g

yeah Guernica that's exactly what I was thinking.. All of the input has been making me think I should ignore my ears and turn the vocals higher than I think sounds good.. I thought it sounded harsh too, but no one mentioned it. Everyone said it was fine. I dont know man.. I did these vocals before the new found knowledge about the mids, but I thought I e.q.'d them down.. This really bothers me.:) thanks for the ears G!

hey Treeline, thanks for checking out the other tune man, I appreciate the ears.

Well... just figured that too much advice would bog ya down sammy, esp. eq advice  :p :D I did say something about 500Hz (lower mids), but that just reflected a belief that you did that on purpose. :D :D IMNSHO this vocal sound might work if you took down the same competing freqencies on the snare a bit. Just a thot. ;)

YES!!!

There ya go brotha! Brought them vox up nicely. It's playing very loudly on the monitors and sounding clean and sweet. Nice work!
This is very creative stuff Sam...Nice changes. I liked the original a lot, but this mix really brings those ideas to a brighter light. I wouldn't mind hearing a few more remixes too. Especially with the vocal up. Good job...

There's one lead guitar that might have been a bit loud, but then...my speakers were pretty loud too...

I don't know about remix good/remix bad,...

but that song is really dark and heavy,... almost menacing.

That's a really creative piece of work. Scary, man.

I only listened lofi, but I'll download and listen to the hifi version later. The lofi play obviously sounded a little dull and boxy, and it wouldn't be fair to criticize based on lofi play.

Otherwise,... yikes! That's frighteningly good,... or just flat out frightening! You should compose soundtracks for slasher movies.

... and I don't mean home slasher movies either!

Sam, take a bow, IMO you're a giant talent among homerec'ers.

I think your talent is so huge that you're destined to be an underground classic,... I don't think the mainstream could handle it. Of course, then again, there's Marilyn Manson who's hugely mainstream, so you never know!

;)

participant - I think I get what your saying.. I'll have to remix again later on.. I am now officialy sick of this song. :) thanks my man

SLuiCe - I think I may have blown out some of the higher frequencies on me monitors.. I'll come back to this later when I'm less sick of this tune.. This is not the final mixdown I guess.. thanks for the confirmation bro..

A Reel Person - thanks Reel.. I appreciate the words.. Sometimes the best way to combat your demons is to record them... o.k. that sounds dumb... Let me put it another way... I smoke a lot! :) thanks Reel!

I downloaded the tune and listened to it in all it's hifi glory.

-Sounds good, nice mix, hifi. IMO, no need to change anything.;)

Cool Sam!

I always like your breakdowns .. sounds really mellow. :)

I was reading about your dating scene in the cave.
Hey .. Im in the same boat as you.. no girls here :) I really drown myself in music soo much I tend not to worry about it. In the end you become what you put out.... drop a rock in the water and see what happens. A small rock(energy) will produce small ripples(the ripples could be the amount of return from energy put out) Life gives you back what you put in... you cant go wrong if your energy if propery focused. You'll ultimately find a reflection of yourself... you have tons of talent.. focus it!

I dont have a copy of the original mix but this is great. This shit is of epic proportion.....lotta stuff going on.This should be on a movie soundtrack..."got to get you out of my brain, someday I'll return to the chase(chains?)"...thats a cool line and the harmony is cool.

This mix is fine man.

Reel - thanks again!

JMarcomb - appreciate that man.. I am working on improving the many areas that need it... who knows. At least we have our tunes for now.. :) :( thx man.. :D

Kramer - you got the words right! :D It is chase.. thanks for the ears and the words man.. I am never satisfied, but hopefully I'll learn to just move on instead of disecting a tune to death and sucking the fun right out of it.. :)
