Okay, this is not for purposes of recording....

My band is looking for a place to practice and we're looking into building one in the back yard.

It needs to be isolated (as in room inside another room not letting noise out) as well as sounding decent inside.

We looked at building it from scratch which still might happen but then we came across the idea of using a prebuilt shed.

They make these nice wood pre built sheds for around $2000 to $3000 and we we thinking of getting one of those and then building the room inside (1 foot in on each wall right?) of that.

The shed will probably be a 14 x 18 so 12 x 16 inside.

#1 does this sound like a good idea

#2 would it be cheaper to build the whole thing ourselves, we have a lot of people that know about construction so labor is free. concrete is already there.

#3 does anyone make a pre built STUDIO (already soundproofed)

ANY ideas even if they differ greatly from the above plans are VERY appreciated.

IMO, there's no way you'll get out of this for less than $5000.

With that in mind, I'd just try to make friends with someone with a garage or something out in the middle of nowhere. ;)

Maybe not an option Dolomite ;) I'm sure that you could probably get a pre made steel shed, we have them here in OZ then build inside that with a little help from your friends ( I've heard that somewhere before ??)

cheers
John
