yes I read about that, I just went down to the local drug store and found the only bottle they had left and its 99% !
I have an AKAI 635D which was restored to good working condition and has worked very well. I didn't use it much for almost a year and lately started to transfer my MP3 '60's collection to tape. I cleaned the paths/heads, used a Sony degaussing tool, and it recorded well for several reels (probable 12 hours recording time). For some reason I cannot get the signal to record now- the meters show the appropriate signal from 'source' and everything moves/switches/changes as expected- only when I go back to listen to the tape quality there has been no signal transferred, it is just quiet, no hum/low freq/noise--just silence. I am using tapes that appear to be of good quality but they are clearly used tapes, probable 3-5 yrs old or more. It recorded fine for 2 10" reels then simple stopped recording a signal-- any suggestions? Thanks, TFW
