Recording Problem

Hi Guys,
This is my first post here. I recently purchased a PreSonus Firebox 24-bit/96k console and I'm trying to record vocals and guitar using an MXL 990 and a standard SM57, respectively. As far as software goes, I'm just working with GarageBand to cut demos.

For some reason, when I record through the console, the playback on GarageBand is only in one ear. I understand that guitar and vocals are both mono instruments, but I want the playback to be panned to the center with the guitar and vocal audible in both speakers/headphones.

Have any of you had a similar problem? Is there something obvious I'm forgetting to do, or could the problem be with my hardware (I'm still within the exchange period)?

Sounds like you are recording a mono source into only one channel of a stereo track. Make sure to record your mono source into a mono track.

Thanks Nick for the reminder. I had the very same problem myself for quite a while until I accidently discovered the solution... being a relative newbie to recording.
