Oh yeah that's right. And Reaper looks really cool. One more question though. When using the R16 to record alone with the SD card, how does it save the recording? Is it as an audio file? Does it save the tracks individually so that you can manipulate them later?

It saves the tracks as indivdual .wav files under whatever project heading you give them. And yeah, you can just move the files either via USB cable or by removing the SD card and inserting it in your comp.

And that would be awesome if my university had some practice rooms! unfortunately you have to be in the music department to have access to anything like that. But maybe I can ninja in there. Thanks for the reccomendation :)
Take a class. Get a pass!

I'm betting that you don't have to take anything more strenuous than Jazz Appreciation to gain entrance. :)

@TeyshaBlue. Sorry to kind of change the subject, but I figured I might as well throw this in there. How well does the Zoom R16 handle when running it straight into your daw via usb? Im in the market for a bigger interface (using a 2x2 right now) and I have been told that usb cant handle 8 channels at once.

Much love, Drew

That's what I bought the ZOOM for primarily, a decent 8 channel interface. I works great.
USB2.0 is more than capable of 8 channels at a time. I've run 8 on a couple of occasions...but usually only 4 to 6 in the projects I've been working with.
So far, the ZOOM has been very reliable and the control surface functionality is certainly a bonus.

I'm pretty set on getting the ZOOM R16! But one more question. Sample rate? How important is it? It says that the R16 records 44.1kHz and 96kHz only when you use it as an recording interface and only using 2 channels. I'm not expecting amazing quality or anything but is it a significant difference?

It'll record 44.1 and 48k 8 channels simultaneously. 96k on two.

And no, it is not a significant difference to the avg. home recorder.

Lots of good info on the R16.
