Hey guys,.... If this is too much of a newbie question, please just boot me over that forum :o :)

I've been recording single and 2 -track sound clips thus far (Stereo in Edit View), but since I have a Delta 1010 with 8 In / 8 Out, I figure I should be able to record that many sources at one time (Yes / No??) I'll only be recording a max of 6 tracks anyway since that's all the mix pre's I have at this point --- I'm getting ready to start doing some Drum Test Tracks.

The problem is I have no idea how to set this up?? I've ordered the 2 - DVD set of instructional video's for AA 1.5, but they're not here yet......so I'm leaning on you guys :)

If someone could gently point me in the right direction on this, that would be great! :D

Thanks,
Rick

After your sound card is installed, go to Options/Device Order/Wave In (and also Wave Out) and select the I/O for your card in the right-hand column. Make sure you specify a pair of outs for Edit View ("Use In EV") or you'll go nuts trying to figure out why it plays back in Multitrack View but not in Edit View.

Don't ask me how I know this.;)

Anyhow, I have easily done 8 simultaneous I/O with Audition.

It looks like it's showing the pairs in there (3/4, 5/6, 7/8...).....So I'm guessing that when I actually plug something into that input on my Delta.....say input jack #4, that it'll automatically show up if I hit record on track 4??

Thanks,
Rick

There is a box showing the track input at the left end of the multitrack view display. Click on it, a menu drops down, and you can select which input you want.

It's based on analog mixer convention, so it will display 1/2 (or 3/4, or whatever) and a space where you can tell it "stereo", "left" or "right". Following the bus convention, 1/2 Left = input 1; 1/2 Right = input 2, and so on. For persons raised on computers, this is confusing, but once you know how it works it's OK.

So, if you want "Input #4", you would select "3/4 Right."

Ok, I'm going to try and get this figured out tonight.....I'll let you know how it turns out :D

Thanks again!!!

Rick

curious

I have used cool edit pro for quite a while now but I want to record multiple tracks at the same time. so Im glad to find this forum so I know that it actually works. the thing I need is some sort of an interface. I saw how WERNER 1 used a Delta 1010. are there other types of audio interfaces like that? all I need is 6 or 8 inputs preferable on a USB 2 configuration, if need be, i can do firewire too. Could I get a list of possible interfaces? thanks.

oh yeah. p.s., is there any out there where all the inputs are XLR jacks instead of mostly 1/4 inch jacks?

been there... and thought "What the fuck was that about!" I guess it's not without its quarks.

The Aardvark Q10 has XLR ins. HOWEVER... aardvark has since gone out of bussiness. You can pic up a Q10 for dirt cheap now ($250!!, was $800 new) but costomer support LITTERALLY does not exist anymore. So if you have software issues you got some searching to do for the right version.

As far as the actual topic of the thread; If you set up everything once and save it as a template life is a little easier.
