I think this is more a question of surround sound but how would one record and mix down to a 4 channel system or surround sound. I assume that recording would be the same but how would i mix down? I know that i can control stereo by panning but how can i control depth front and back? Any and all help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all and I hope you have a Merry Christmas -Jingleheimer-

Right now im using Cakewalk guitar pro 3 but i will soon be getting cubase. Is there a program out there that i would need? -Jingleheimer-

You need a program that can mix in surround, a soundcard with 6 outputs, a surround sound monitoring system that has 6 discreet inputs and a mastering program that can author DVD's or CD's in a surround format.

Unfortunately it isn't cheap or easy to create a surround mix that can be played on traditional CD or DVD systems. It's been about a year or so since I looked into it so if somebody has come out with a cheap solution since then I'd love to know also.
