Im recording the guitar with a Peavy Bandit 112 Amp and a Tiny Marshall. Should I ues line out or Mic the speakers? This is my first time at recording the guitar? Also my Peavey gives me a buzz that I can't stand, Is there any way to reduce that, maybe with the sound proofing sheets. I'd appreciate the help

Thanks Gidge, When im not playing , the Distortion gives me a buzz! On Clean tone its fine, I love the bandit, Also the back Vibrates some too, Maybe the wiring and speakers are screwed up, Ill play it tho! Thanks for the help

find you a decent noise gate plugin and it will take care of most of that buzz......

thats assuming you are recording to a PC....what are you recording to?......

IM recording to a Tascam 788! I don't have all the equipment for the computer!

i use a pevey studio pro....which is damn near the same thing as a bandit. do you have buzz or is it pickup hum...i play strats so i have to deal with pickup hum. i record my guitar this way: set a large condeser mike about 3 feet from my amp ...the mic goes into a joe meek pre with the eq and the optical compresser on...that goes into a noise gate (you have to tweak some to get the gate set right)...out of the gate, into the recorder. i get great guitar tones without the hum with this setup.

DW,

no need to frown on the 788.....

i think you will need a gate...it can come in the form of a stomp box or a rack unit like the Behringer Autocom Pro ($79)...the autocom will give you compression/limiting/and gating features...very useful for recording guitar.....

another no cost option is to just edit out the parts where you are not playing since that should be the only time you hear the buzz on the track.....
