recording from tape to CD

I am setting up a recording systemin my new XP with cakewalk. I would like to find a tape recording device to capture live music. Then treansfer it to the recording program, edit it, add other tracks, etc.
What kind of recording equipment to I need>.

Your post needs to be a little more specific...

but, I'll try...

First, you will need to purchase a cable to go between the tape deck and the computer.

You will need to get a "sound editing program", such as Cool Edit Pro, Sound Forge, etc...

If you are going to layer your music, then you will need to get a "tracking program", like Sonar, Vegas Audio, Logic, Cubase, etc...
