All I have is 4 vocal mics. What is the best way to record my drums? I am using an alto L-8 mixer and then it is connected to the line-in of my computer into cool edit pro 2. What should I be micing? Should I add any effects using the mixer? What will give me a good sound? Once the track has been recorded in cool edit would you suggest anything be done?
Thanks

Recording drums usually works well with two overheads, a third near/in the bass drum, and a fourth near the snare. Recording dry with no effects is a good way to start, and then add effects later as desired. If you record wet, you cannot remove later.

I'm in exactly the same position, just bought a behringer mixer and am using cool edit pro! I need to know, how can i get the output into my computer, through my line in i mean, because the main output on the behringer is 2 xlr (male.) Should i just take it out of the headphone jack? Or the control room output? Or is this a bad idea....help me! I havent found any way of connecting the two xlr outputs to the line in 3.5mm of my computer, so i need a solution.
thanks
