Recording Bass Guitar

I have a VF160 and a friend is coming in to lay down some bass guitar lines. He has a Sadowsky 5 string bass with an Aphex DI box. I would appreciate any tips you all could give me as to the best way to record this. Thanks for your help.

i like to record the bass with a sm57 on the bass amp and i put another mic or two in the room and mix them together.
