Well,
What's the popular consensus, is it safe to upgrade yet ?

Anybody lose anything or ruin anything by upgrading to the latest version ?
I thought I've read about a couple issues with some of you.

I love this software but I don't want to mess up any of my projects by upgrading.

Is it safe to come out and play yet ? :)

Thanks !

Right on top, although you could delete the old version it isn't needed. And same with reverting to old versions, just download the old version, or if you kept the old version installer, double click it and install over the top of the new version, its smart enough to clean up what is not needed.

BTW, all your personal settings are stored else where, so when it installs over the top your settings remain unchanged.

Thanks, man. I got the latest version last night when I set up my new computer. The reason I was asking is because you guys update so fast, I know I'll be having to update this new version within the next 24 hours. :D Thanks again.

I think the actualizations should be done by the program, not by downloading and installing a newer version manually.
That would be much easier and user-friendly.

Actualizations?

I agree though. An option in the preferences for "auto-download & install updates" would be nice. And those who prefer to stay with an older version for whatever reason could leave it off.

Hmmm I dunno ... that's exactly what people hate about Microsoft software so much.

I say leave it and use it and if you choose to upgrade to a different version then do it. To build in auto-update would then require validation of some sort when licences expire at major version changes and so on.

Plus many of us record on computers that aren't connected to a network or the internet for the usual performance/interruption reasons. So getting it off the website every so often and then installing it off a flash disk seems a fair option to me.

I just Downloaded 2.010
Looks to be pretty simple and strait forward.
am I right by thinking that Reaper Uses DX files and VST Plugins dll's?
or am I halicinating:confused:
this program looks like it has a lot of really nice features.
I imagine that the Kajerhaus Plugins work with Reaper?
I will probably mess around with it more this weekend.

it looks like they have a really great support forum also
I will prolly be spending some time over there figuring out how this program works.

Well,
I just had a desktop PC given to me a couple days ago.
Installed a firewire card yesterday and got the Alesis io26 hooked up to it and working with no problems.

Decided it's a perfect time to install Reaper 2.010 so I did.
Wow, it looks completely different, I like it.
Runs great so far, now I gotta get used to some of the little differences but that's ok, I was a new user anyway and had not got quite up to par yet.
Heck, I'm probably a light weight user anyway as all I do is record digital audio, use some plugins (some external rack stuff) and mix.
No midi or any fancy samplers or stuff like that.
Just thought I'd share that with you's

I love this software.

Yup DX, VST, JS, and Cockos own plugins. JS plugins are simple but sometimes very effective for what they do. Cockos I guess are like VSTs but will only operate in Reaper. All counted you have about 200 plugins, with what comes with reaper, or just short of it. Kajerhaus Plugins, yes they work, any plugin that adheres to the VST specs should work, try before ya buy and all that, but SHOULD work.
