ok well i appreciate everyone's help so far , thanks alot , i suppose ill do some research by looking through the forums and come up with ideas, thanks alot everyone =)

hey dogbreath, i didnt see your post before i posted this so heres your answers

no i dont have gear other than a microphone and my recording program i use which is adobe audition, i'm more looking to get into the hip hop section of music rather than the instruments and everything. i would like to make beats as well as record lyrics so i figured i could just use my closet and put my microphone in there and do my thing ya know? and when you say acoustically treat the room, do you have any websites or threads you can point me to so i can read up on that? thanks alot i appreciate it

Both dudes are damn good at this stuff.

Ya might also check out an interface. I'm assuming that you still have the stock soundcard in your computer and if so, you won't be very happy with the results.

Check thru the tweakheadz guide that was posted above for info on the soundcard and lots of other stuff. It's long but it's long cuz there's a whole shit load of info.

Good luck man. Post if ya get confused or have a question. I remember just starting out and it can get a little overwhelming.
