Question about the Audiophile 2496

forgive my ignorance please. i'm about to buy a new soundcard and i'm currently set on the audiophile 192, but i have a question. i've seen lots of people say good things about the less expensive audiophile 2496. my question is how do you record guitar with that card? i don't see any 1/4" inputs. am i missing something?
 
its best to run the guitar into a processing unit, DI box, or some sort of mixer before it hits the sound card.

try a POD or v-amp

after you input your guitar to the processor/mixer, then route it to the sound card.

ok well thank you, but that was not my question. the audiophile 2496 does not appear to have any 1/4" inputs on it. so....how does one usually record a guitar with this card? i'm asking cuz i have seen several posts and/or comments from guitar players talking highly of this card.
 
All you need is a 95cent rca-1/4"convertor jack (or 2 if you want to record 2 tracks at once)

so a converter doesn't do anything to sound quality?

It's actually an "adaptor" not a converter,and no it shouldn't affect your sound.

The 2496 does not have preamps,so you will likely need something put before it to get a decent signal.

If you have no hardware with digital outputs,I would not suggest the 2496,unless you need a MIDI connection also.I would recommend the Delta 44.Four 1/4" ins and outs.
 
would the 2496 be fine if i was just going to record direct and only record guitar?

You still would need a preamp of some sort.
Maybe you would want to consider a Line6 Guitarport.
 
I don't know, but I think a lot of people prefer micing guitars, instead of running them directly in..
