Greetings,

I was wondering if Tascam still sold older manuals for reel to reels released in the 70's. Would I just contact them and give them the info of the the reel to reel? I've been working on the machine and getting pointers from friends, but I think I really need the manual. Could anyone point me in the right direction? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Also, I was wondering if there were any books still in print about recording in analog.

Tascam Parts dept. sells manuals for most older gear.

They're at (323) 727-4840. They take phone orders.

Manuals For Older Geer And Analog Stuff

I bought my manual far a 488 from directly from Tascam. I think it was $14.95 + tax, but it was worth it in my book.

There are also other sources. They are a little higher in price. I don't know how reliable they are though. You can Google for them.

I also got a real nice tome on analog recording at Barnes & Noble called
"Using Your Portable Studio" by Peter McIan.

ISBN is: 0-8256-1437-6
Order #: AM 92232
Publisher: AMSCO PUBLICATIONS
