when i finish my beat on the sequencer (panning everything to sound good)
is it right to just go ahead and record the beat into my 8 track in stereo? will the panning on my sequencer come through from the 8 track?
or should i record each section of the beat (bassline, melody, drums) into a mono track on my 8 track and then pan on that?

Either way the end result is the same. The advantage of mixing on the 8track is you can use the effects and EQ on that if you happen to like them better.

Also, if you're using MIDI, you don't even have to use up tracks recording your beats. Sync it up to your 8-track, staight into your mixer or whatever you're using. That way, you'll have 7 (track 8 is used for the sync) open tracks for vocals, etc...
