question about compression

iwas just wondering.........should i use comprresion on everything???(vocals,guitar,bass,drums,and keyboard)......and do most of you guys record with compression on or add it after you record???thank alot
 
Yes... you should use it on absolutely everything.... even just when listening (tv, radio, stereo)....

Dynamics have no place in music....

Wow, thanks, Bear. I was wondering why my stuff wasn't punchy enough.

BTW, I just figured out you can chain compressors - just in case every single note wasn't completely maxed out. :D
 
the best method is to compress it before you record it. Then if you missed any spots you can squash 'em with the software.
 
Isn't there someone doing a study on these types of answers in the Microphone forum?
