hey - just got a Que 24x10x40x CDRW drive that supposedly burns audio CDs in less than 4 minutes. I tried it out with some older CD-Rs that I had and it took a little more than 11 minutes at 24x write. Is that because my CD-Rs aren't 24x? Is there any method to decrease the time it takes to burn CDs? Thanks.

I heard that you should always burn audio CDS at 2X..no matter how fast the cd recorder can burn at..

1st you have to make sure that your cdr's are can be burned that fast. it should say on the package what their compatability speed is. 2nd, make sure the settings on your buring software are set to the fastest possible speed.
I have heard that you should burn audio cds at a slower speed but can't coment on the B.S. factor in that statement. I burn mine @ higher speeds and don't NOTICE any less quality.

Funny thing is I don't think there are any 24x certified cdr's yet!

16x certified cdr's might do though...

Okay, thanks - I did find some 24x CD-Rs at Best Buy so I'll give those a shot. My CD-RW has burnproof technology, though, so I don't think I should have problems burning at a high speed. Does the burnproof technology increase the time it takes to write the CD?

"burnproof technology" that's a new one to me...but then again, I haven't been in the market for a new cd burner
