Here’s a tune I wrote years ago and played in my punk band. Then we had to retire it due to eerie circumstances. Basically, the song ended up telling the story of something tragic that ended up really happening to someone close, so we decided we couldn’t play it anymore.

In any case, I’ve been wanting to make an acoustic version of this one for years so I just knocked it out tonight.

I hope you like it!

I thought this was a really good song.

The guitars and vocals sound fine. Maybe nudge up the vocals or nudge down the guitars. Just a bit - like 1 db tops.

The acoustic version is nice, but I'm thinking I'd like the punk version better. Might just be me.

Very Nice recording. Excellant guitar timing and vocal harmony. I know it's not a lot of tracks but Amazing you knocked this one out so quickly. Impressive ..

Yah I think that just sounds fantastic. When you say “let's go” the first time that’s where I’d have the whole band just come smashing in there and rock out to the end. I love the energy in it and nice acoustic tone

I was thinking about adding drums and bass, but keeping all the guitars acoustic. That’s would be a great spot to jump in with the other instruments. Great suggestion!

Yah being a punk style you could really hit it hard. I think that would highlight the acoustic part even more. But hey by the sounds of your work you probably don’t need any production advice you know what your doing.
Cheers. Guy

Awesome…I’ve never been told I know what I’m doing, lol!

I’ll throw some drums and bass on there and see what happens!

I threw Drums and Bass on there. Putting in drums after the fact is always harder for me; not perfect but close enough! I even jumped in with snare and floor tom accented on “Let’s Go!” just for you!

Probably not a great mix at this point; my laptop is so bogged down the CPU meter sits at 93% without the song even playing…ugh! It was a bit of a guessing game listening through the crackling.

Mix suggestions? CPU tips and tricks with Ableton? Let’s go!

First of all what do you think of your song now with these changes…………..
As far as the laptop issues in my experience stuttering has been always caused by lack of ram. I eventually bought one of those refurbished laptops with a decent cpu and 8gigs of ram and all my stutter problems went away

My intention is not to push you in any direction you don’t want to go but I gotta say if this was my project I like the direction it’s going. I love the transition from just acoustic to the whole band kicking in. Works well.
As far as the mix there are a few cymbal crashes that need taming, and the vocals could use a slight bump up after the bass and drums enter just to be heard better, would be a good start I think.
Love it, can’t stop listening to it.

I definitely like the energy with the bass and drums coming in halfway through the song. I definitely want to keep the guitars acoustic, otherwise it starts to become too close to the original.

Listening to the mix in my car this morning it’s clear the bass and drums are too loud and have a little too much mud/low end. I’ll try to tame that. I think it hit the master bus compressor too hard and pulled the vocals too low. This change should help a lot.

I’m glad you like it! I’ll mess with it later today or tomorrow and post one last time…don’t want to bore anyone too much with this! Thanks!
