punch up the volume!!!!!!!!!!!!

I record using a fostex fd-8 digital recorder with a 250 zip drive, then mix down straight to a phillips d.a. c.d. recorder through rca analog cables or an optical adat cable.
The sound is good, but the volume tends to be really damn low. What gives?

J.M., have you made sure that all of your OUTPUT and INPUT levels are properly adjusted?
