Has anyone else played around with sliding the snare drum forward a little? It seems like it's consistently behind the beat. My current mix has the snare lined up with the rest of the tracks, but it almost sounded better moved up about 20ms or so.

Plus gimme just a little of the distorted rhythm at a couple of places. Also your interlude needs work, the lead is too forward, sounds like a guitar rehearsal tape.
I don't like your approach on the intro at all, seems very '80s to me. Lots of balance issues too, and note xfinsterx's comment about compression. I do like your interlude, you pull off the interplay of the guitars.I'm not really sure what you mean. We are talking about PMC 11 mix2 right? The only Phase/flanging effect that I used was on the distortion guitars. I used a little reverb and delay on the vocals but thats about it for the FX.mshilarious said:ocnor - that is a loud mix, very tiring, and what is the deal with the phase/flanging effect on everything? Even the backing vocals? Is this some bizarre mp3 artifact?

Here comes my almost the final one. I would say I'm starting to be around 98% ready here. What do you think? And Chris are the dynamics any better?
The mp3 is here

xfinsterx said:Bumping the snare forward....in theory i guess that does change the feel.
But in terms of phase relation to the overheads, it seemed to make the snare sound a little puny.

Raw-Tracks said:The snare has not been moved in the mix I have up right now. I am, however, not happy with the snare sound in that mix. I need to work on that. I don't have Drumagog or any other way to replace the snare. I wish I did. I will just have to experiment a little more.

So, I won't be surprised if it sucks hardcore. Vox may be a bit quiet.
Dist Guit, I don't really care for but, oh well.

You can tell the parts that I did and didn't like.

Im still scared to say that this is my final mix...but since we have so long till the end of the contest, I think i will take a couple of days break from it...although it is a really good song.
anymore suggestions???
