Here is my attempt so far.

I just couldn't find any way to make the distorted guitars work, so I just left them out.

I also am wondering if others are finding a problem with the low level of the lead vocal - I had to really pump it up with a compressor to get it to stand out at all. Sounds really gritty now, tho.

Well I was going for a natural, open, dynamic sound - I guess I'll have to reconsider that if it seems too boring. What sort of tweeks would you suggest? Crank the compression, add more reverb and effects?

Thanks finster, NL5. After 4 different browsers and 2 operating systems I still couldn't download the file. I'm going to get a friend to download it for me, so we'll see how it does.

Geet... wow.. awesome job on the vocals dude... That's what I'm rasslin with right now...

I may start over and work from the vocals down instead of drums up but here's what I have so far if anyone with real monitors would like to critique

Thank you very much :) I agree with Geet... there's something up with your monitoring chain or something because it's kind of weird sounding.
 
After to listening to a bunch of these mixes.. why are so many of you overcompressing the mix? Don't worry about making it loud they'll level the mixes out when judging.

A lot of you are doing some pretty crazy stuff to the vocals.. why?

Wait till you get a load of what I do....

I tend to leave out the effects when I mix someone's stuff (unless I can add something, but the effects plugins I have are shit). I may compress a little.

I will probably submit the driest track here. You'll need a glass of water to listen to it...
